Patient Support
At DeTar Cancer Center, we believe supporting patients is an important part of care. Cancer treatment often involves numerous specialists, procedures and therapies, and can often be overwhelming. That’s why cancer care includes support services that address everything from education and care management assistance to support groups.
The oncology patient navigator, a nurse with oncology-specific clinical knowledge, offers individualized assistance to patients, families and caregivers. The navigator assists patients throughout their cancer care journey and assists with removing barriers and helping to ensure that the key elements of quality care are delivered.
A wide range of educational resources are available to help patients and family members learn more about cancer, treatment and recovery, including:
- Coordination of care to identify any possible barriers (financial, psychosocial, transportation)
- Enhanced communication between the care team, patient, caregivers and providers
- Financial assistance with prescription medication
- Appointment and procedure scheduling
- Hair loss and nutritional supplement support
