Welcoming Harlyn

A DeTar Hospital North Birth Story Rooted in Trust, Strength, and Exceptional Care
For Kaitlyn Kelly Studer and her husband, Clayton Beau Studer, choosing where to welcome their third child was never a question. After delivering their twins, Hallie and Holstyn, at DeTar Hospital North in 2024, the Victoria family knew exactly where they wanted to return for baby number three.
On April 20, 2026, at 4:07 p.m., Harlyn made her arrival, weighing 9 pounds, 1 ounce, and measuring 21 inches long—already adored by her proud big brother and sister waiting at home.
“Harlyn’s name just felt right,” Kaitlyn shared. “With our twins’ names both starting with ‘H,’ we knew we wanted to continue that tradition. It was unique, and we fell in love with it.”
While this was Kaitlyn’s second delivery at DeTar Hospital North, the experience brought a new level of confidence and comfort.
“Our twins’ delivery was more complicated and took place in the OR,” she explained. “This time, I felt more at ease. I was coached through the entire process, and that made such a difference.”
Kaitlyn also expressed gratitude for her OB/GYN, Dr. Melissa Wilson.
“Dr. Wilson, as always, is such an amazing physician,” she said. “She made me feel confident, supported, and cared for every step of the way.”
That sense of reassurance was critical, especially leading up to delivery. After learning Harlyn was measuring nearly eight pounds two weeks before her scheduled induction, Kaitlyn admits she felt anxious.
“I was extremely nervous on the way to the hospital,” she said. “I knew she was going to be bigger than my twins, and I wasn’t sure what to expect.”
What followed, however, exceeded every expectation.
“The best experience,” Kaitlyn said. “I felt so comfortable with my nurses, Shelli and Nicole. Even when I doubted myself, they kept reminding me that I could do it.”
One of the most meaningful moments came during labor itself. “Harlyn was being stubborn and didn’t want to move down,” Kaitlyn recalled. “But every time I pushed, Shelli would say ‘Good.’ The way she said it—I knew I was making progress. That stuck with me.”
After an initial hour of pushing, Kaitlyn was encouraged to rest and change positions. What happened next surprised everyone. “We pushed for about 10 minutes the second time, and suddenly she was here,” she said.
When Harlyn was finally placed in her arms, the emotion was immediate and overwhelming. “I was so relieved and so happy,” Kaitlyn said. “I cried. All the pain, the anxiety—it was all worth it the second I saw her face.”
Throughout the experience, Kaitlyn credits the DeTar team for creating an environment of trust, encouragement, and knowledgeable care. “I feel like I’ve known Shelli forever,” she said. “She made me so comfortable. Without her, I would have been an emotional mess.”
Kaitlyn also expressed deep gratitude for nurse Ashton, who quickly identified a complication after delivery that required Harlyn to receive care in the NICU. “I thank God Ashton was my nurse,” Kaitlyn said. “She recognized the issue right away and made sure Harlyn got the care she needed.”
Harlyn was treated for respiratory concerns in the NICU, where the family continued to experience the same level of compassion and professionalism. “Tami and Mikayla in the NICU were incredible,” Kaitlyn shared. “Every step of the way, the team explained what was happening and reassured us that everything would be okay.”
Following delivery, Kaitlyn says her postpartum experience continued to reflect the same level of attentive, compassionate care. “Jennifer always made sure I was comfortable and helped me feel prepared to be discharged,” she said. “That meant so much during those first few days.”
From labor and delivery to postpartum and NICU care, Kaitlyn says the consistency of support made all the difference. “The positivity, the encouragement—it’s what makes DeTar so special,” she said. “Every single person, from nurses to housekeeping to physicians, made us feel cared for.”
Now home with their growing family, the Studers say they would recommend DeTar Hospital North without hesitation. “You can’t get a better team,” Kaitlyn said. “They are knowledgeable, attentive, and truly care about you and your baby.”
For Kaitlyn, Clayton, and their two daughters and one son, Harlyn’s birth story is one of strength, trust, and a care team that delivered far more than a baby—it delivered peace of mind when it mattered most.
