Honoring Our Physicians on Doctors’ Day by Giving Back to Our Community
3/24/2026
Dear Editor,
Each year on Doctors’ Day (observed on March 30), we pause to recognize and celebrate the extraordinary physicians who dedicate their lives to caring for our community. At DeTar Healthcare System, we believe the most meaningful way to honor our doctors is by making a positive impact in the community they serve. Rather than traditional gifts, we choose to give back through charitable contributions that reflect our mission of improving lives beyond the walls of our hospitals.
This year, we proudly donated $3,000 to the Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive benefiting the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent. Peanut butter is a vital source of protein and one of the most requested—but least donated—items at food banks. Through this contribution, our DeTar doctors will help provide approximately 1,500 jars of peanut butter to families facing food insecurity across our region.
We are also investing in the future of healthcare by contributing $3,000 to our DeTar Volunteers and their healthcare college scholarship program. This gift, made in honor of our physicians, will support healthcare scholarships for college students pursuing careers in the medical field. By encouraging and supporting future healthcare professionals, we hope to inspire the next generation of caregivers right here in Victoria.
Doctors’ Day is a time to express gratitude for the compassionate and skilled physicians who make a difference in patients’ lives every day. Through these contributions, we not only recognize their dedication but also extend their impact into the broader community—helping to fight hunger and supporting those who will one day care for others.
On behalf of DeTar Healthcare System, I extend my heartfelt thanks to all of our physicians for their unwavering commitment to patient care. We are proud to celebrate you—not just on Doctors’ Day, but every day.
