Honoring Our Physicians on Doctor's Day by Giving Back to Our Community

Each year on Doctors’ Day, we take a moment to recognize and celebrate the incredible physicians who dedicate their lives to caring for our community. At DeTar Healthcare System, we believe the best way to honor our doctors is by making a meaningful impact in the community they serve. That’s why, instead of traditional gifts, we’ve chosen to give back through charitable contributions that reflect our mission of improving lives beyond hospital walls.
This year, we proudly donated $1,000 to the Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive, benefiting the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent. Peanut butter is a vital source of protein and one of the most requested—but least donated—items at food banks. With this contribution, we are helping to provide 500 jars of peanut butter to families facing food insecurity across our region.
Additionally, we are investing in the future of healthcare by contributing $5,000 to the VISD Education Foundation to support career development for local students. This donation will fund the purchase of an electrocardiogram (EKG) machine for the Certified Medical Assistant (CMMA) program, giving students hands-on experience with essential medical technology. By fostering interest in healthcare careers early, we hope to inspire and equip the next generation of medical professionals right here in Victoria.
Doctors’ Day is a time to express gratitude for the compassionate and skilled physicians who make a difference in our lives every day. Through these contributions, we not only honor their service but also extend their impact into the broader community—helping to heal hunger and support future caregivers.
