DeTar on Demand Celebrates 10 Years of Convenient Care for the Crossroads
10/16/2026
Providing reliable and convenient care for the Crossroads since 2016
For 10 years, DeTar On Demand has been there for Victoria-area residents when they need medical care, from everyday illnesses and minor injuries to unexpected health concerns during some of the Crossroads community’s most challenging times.
Since opening its doors in October 2016, the walk-in clinic has provided a convenient option for local families seeking care beyond traditional primary care office hours. Through seasonal flu surges, the COVID-19 pandemic and the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, DeTar On Demand has remained a dependable resource for patients who need timely, compassionate care close to home.
“We are here for local families through every cold and flu season, helping parents and kids feel better and we are here for residents as a reliable service during moments of uncertainty,” Sheila Browning, FNP-C, with DeTar On Demand, said. “We have gained the trust and confidence of our community and we are so proud to be celebrating ten years of service and community care.”
Browning has been part of DeTar On Demand since the beginning. Before returning to school to become a family nurse practitioner, Browning worked as a registered nurse in DeTar Healthcare System’s emergency department. That experience helped prepare her for the wide variety of illnesses and injuries she treats at the clinic.
“Over the past 10 years, we’ve had the privilege of caring for patients throughout the Crossroads and being here when they need us,” Browning said. “Patients often tell us how much they appreciate being able to walk in, be seen quickly and know someone is taking the time to listen to their concerns. We want every patient to feel cared for and confident they’re receiving the attention they need.”
The clinic’s role in the community became especially apparent during major events that affected the region. During the COVID-19 pandemic, DeTar On Demand experienced a significant influx of patients seeking testing. During Hurricane Harvey in August 2017, Browning recalls an increase in patients with lacerations and other injuries as residents worked to repair their homes and businesses following the storm.
Seasonal illnesses also bring predictable increases in visits, particularly during peak flu season when patients seek testing and treatment for respiratory symptoms. Throughout the year, the clinic treats a variety of non-emergency conditions, from sprains and lacerations to coughs, colds and other upper respiratory illnesses.
“Some days we can see up to 40 patients a day, each one of those patients is looking to us for answers, to help them get to feeling better, to make tomorrow a better day than yesterday,” Browning said. “During the wintertime we can get about 60 patients a day, kids that need to get well and go back to school, parents that need to regain their health and go to work.”
These experiences reflect the importance of having a convenient source of medical care available to the community, not just during major health events but every day.
“People sometimes prefer a clinic like DeTar On Demand because it’s convenient, we are open later during the weekdays and we are open on the weekends. Compared to their primary care physician, patients can get quicker and more immediate care for minor ailments,” Browning said. “We never know what’s going to walk through that door but we are always ready to help.”
That convenience is a big reason patients return. Patients appreciate being able to walk in, complete the smooth online check-in process and often be seen sooner than they might be able to get an appointment with their primary care provider. The clinic’s extended hours also give families and working residents more flexibility when health concerns arise outside a typical workday.
Holly Holland, FNP-C, joined the DeTar On Demand team a year ago and shares that commitment to making quality care accessible.
“DeTar On Demand makes it easier for people to get care when it fits their schedules, whether that’s early in the morning, after work or on the weekend,” Holland said. “It’s rewarding to be part of a team that makes access to care more convenient while making sure patients feel heard, supported and well cared for.”
The clinic’s courteous staff and patient-focused approach have earned positive feedback, including five-star Google reviews. For the providers and staff, those returning patients and positive experiences are an important part of what makes serving the Crossroads community meaningful.
“Our staff here is what makes this convenient care clinic so special,” Holland said. “We have gained our community’s trust and that means the world to us.”
As DeTar On Demand celebrates its 10th anniversary, the milestone recognizes more than a decade of walk-in visits. It celebrates a team that has been there for local residents through changing seasons, unexpected injuries, public health challenges and the everyday moments when someone simply needs to feel better. From young kids to senior citizens, locals to out-of-towners, DeTar On Demand is there to help residents get back to their day lives, one visit at a time.
DeTar On Demand has also continued to adapt to the needs of the community by expanding its hours. The clinic is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, making it easier for patients to find care when they need it.
