DeTar Dedicates New Veterans Parking Area at DeTar Hospital Navarro Ahead of Memorial Day
5/19/2026
On Wednesday, May 20, DeTar Healthcare System held a special dedication and prayer service to unveil a newly developed veterans parking area at DeTar Hospital Navarro in honor of those who have served our country.
The newly designated area includes five reserved parking spaces for veterans and features flags representing each branch of the United States military as a visible tribute to the men and women who have served in the Armed Forces.
The ceremony included a moving performance of Taps on the trumpet by a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), while the prayer service was led by Aaron Glaeske, DeTar Pastoral Care Volunteer and DeTar Board of Trustee member.
“We wanted to create a meaningful and lasting way to recognize and honor the sacrifices our veterans have made for our country,” said Brett Maxfield. “These dedicated parking spaces serve as a daily reminder of our gratitude and respect for the brave individuals who have served our nation. It is especially meaningful to have this completed ahead of Memorial Day, a time when we reflect on the sacrifices made by so many for our freedoms.”
In addition to the veterans parking area, DeTar Healthcare System has also established a Missing Man Table display inside the DeTar Navarro Café. The symbolic table honors military service members who are missing in action, prisoners of war, or who never returned home. The table will remain through Memorial Day and DeTar will set it up once more on Veterans Day.
The organization shared that both tributes were created to provide patients, visitors and team members with opportunities to pause, reflect and remember the service and sacrifice of America’s military heroes during Memorial Day and throughout the year.
