DeTar Healthcare System Offers Free Fall Risk & Prevention Seminars on March 11 and September 9, 2026

DeTar Healthcare System is offering two free public seminars in 2026 designed to help individuals understand the risks of falling and how to prevent falls, a major health concern for seniors and others at risk. The first seminar will take place on March 11 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m at DeTar Hospital Navarro Education Classroom, 506 East San Antonio Street. The second fall prevention seminar will coincide with Fall Prevention Month on September 9, 2026.
The Fall Risk & Prevention Seminars are an opportunity for community members to learn about the factors that increase fall risks, such as osteoporosis, medications, diet, and physical therapy. Participants will also gain practical advice on preventing falls and regaining strength if a fall occurs.
"Our goal is to empower the community with knowledge and resources to reduce the risks associated with falling," said Stephanie Schuckenbrock, director of orthopedics and bariatrics at DeTar Healthcare System. "Falls can be devastating, particularly for older adults, but many of these risks are preventable with the right education and support. Our seminars aim to help people understand how to take action lto protect themselves and their loved ones."

Osteoporosis and its role in fall risk
The role of EMS in responding to fall-related emergencies
Physical therapy and strength-building techniques to prevent falls
How medications can affect balance and increase fall risk
The importance of diet and nutrition in fall prevention and recovery
Available community services to help individuals after a fall
Both seminars will be held in-person at DeTar Healthcare System, located at 506 East San Antonio Street in Victoria, TX. Participants may also join virtually by accessing a link provided at the time of registration.

"With the increase in fall-related injuries, it's critical that people take proactive steps now to reduce their risks."
