DeTar Volunteers Host Bake Sale to Support Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive
3/16/2026
DeTar Volunteer Services will host a special DeTar’s Jars of Love Bake Sale on Monday, March 23, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at DeTar Hospital Navarro in the front lobby, inviting employees, visitors, and community members to enjoy homemade baked goods while supporting a meaningful cause.
The bake sale is part of DeTar Healthcare System and Food Bank of the Golden Crescent’s fourth annual Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive, a community-wide initiative working to combat food insecurity across the Crossroads region.
The 2026 campaign, taking place March 2–23, aims to collect 5,000 jars of peanut butter to help provide nutritious food to families across the Food Bank’s 11-county service area. As of March 16, the campaign has already collected approximately 1,750 jars of peanut butter, and organizers are encouraging the community to help reach the 5,000-jar goal.
Supporters are encouraged to purchase baked goods at the sale or bring jars of peanut butter to donate. Every purchase makes a difference—just $2 helps provide one jar of peanut butter to families in the community.
“Through our Jars of Love initiative, we’re reminded how small acts of kindness can make a meaningful impact,” said Patty Scevers, President of the DeTar Volunteer Services Board. “By purchasing a sweet treat or bringing a jar of peanut butter to donate, our employees and community members can help us move closer to our goal of 5,000 jars and ensure local families have access to nutritious food.”
The Jars of Love Bake Sale will feature a variety of homemade treats prepared by generous volunteers, DeTar employees and supporters. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the bake sale will benefit the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent, helping provide nutritious food for families throughout the region.
Peanut butter remains one of the most requested items by food banks due to its high nutritional value, long shelf life, versatility, and kid-friendly appeal, making it an ideal donation item for families facing food insecurity.
Community members can also support the campaign online through the $40 for 40 Years Challenge, celebrating the Food Bank’s 40th anniversary. A $40 donation provides the equivalent of 20 jars of peanut butter for families in need. Learn more and donate online here: www.tfbgc.org/jarsoflove.
