DeTar Volunteer Services Hosts Bingo-Themed Volunteer Recruitment Event
7/25/2025
DeTar Volunteer Services invites the community to a special Bingo with Friends Event on Tuesday, August 26, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the DeTar Education Classroom (located in the MediCenter, next to DeTar Hospital Navarro). This engaging event is designed to bring current and prospective volunteers together in a fun, welcoming environment. Attendees will enjoy a casual afternoon of bingo and light refreshments while learning about the many rewarding volunteer opportunities available at DeTar Hospital Navarro and DeTar Hospital North.
Volunteers at DeTar Healthcare System play a critical role, supplementing the services that staff members provide to patients, their families and guests. They also play a key role in patient satisfaction, adding a special dimension of personal service and care to those they serve. Volunteers can be found in almost every department at DeTar, greeting visitors, directing patients, performing interdepartmental errands, operating DeTar’s two gift shops and delivering flowers and cards to patients. Volunteers donate thousands of hours each year to our hospital in an effort to enhance the patient experience. They provide support throughout the hospital, staffing the information desk, delivering mail and flowers, operating the gift shop and escorting patients.
“We want our community to know that volunteering at DeTar is about more than just service – it’s about connection, joy, and making a real difference in people’s lives,” said Patty Scevers, DeTar Volunteer Services Board President. “This event is a great way to get to know us, hear from our current volunteers, and find out how you can be part of something meaningful.”
Opportunities range from greeting visitors and assisting at information desks to helping in gift shops and supporting clinical staff with non-medical tasks. Those interested in volunteering age 18 and above are encouraged to attend.
RSVPs are not required, but guests are encouraged to call 361-550-8984 for more information about the event or to learn more about volunteer services at DeTar.
If you are interested in learning more about volunteering at DeTar, please stop by the front desk at either DeTar facility to pick up a brochure on volunteering.
