DeTar Sponsors VPD’s February Lunch and Learn on Feb. 5th for Community Education
1/30/2026
Community members are invited to take an active step toward better heart health at a free educational event, VPD's Lunch and Learn, on Thursday, February 5 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Victoria Community Center Annex.
Residents are invited to attend this free event and take advantage of meeting with DeTar's heart health specialists, ask questions and receive free health screenings. Presentations will be led by residents of DeTar Family Medicine Residency Program, along with keynote speakers Dr. Jasvinder Sidhu and Jennifer Lopez, FNP, with DeTar Medical Group.
“As we get older, our cardiovascular system naturally weakens and the risk of serious life-altering conditions like heart attacks, stroke and heart failure increases,” Lopez said. “Being heart healthy isn’t just about having a longer lifespan, it’s also about having a better quality of life and living longer in good health.”
That’s why for National Heart Month in February, DeTar Healthcare System is sponsoring an additional Victoria Police Department Lunch and Learn to get residents informed on how even the simplest of lifestyle changes can improve their heart health. DeTar is also presenting their annual Heart Health Expo in the dome of the Community Center starting at 9 a.m. Those wishing to attend both events are encouraged to visit the Expo in the dome between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. prior to the VPD Lunch and Learn in the Annex. “We typically don’t have a Lunch and Learn event during the month of February. However, we thought that in recognition of American Heart Month that this would be a great time to partner with DeTar during their annual Heart Expo to help residents become more health-conscious and provide them with easy access to heart health education and screenings," Dinah Levario, Community Engagement Officer with the Victoria Police Department, said.
This community event is sponsored by DeTar Healthcare System and is open to the public. To register for this free lunch and learn event, please visit www.victoriatx.gov/1019/Lunch-and-Learn or call the Victoria Police Department at (361) 485-3808.
