DeTar Medical Group Welcomes Jessica Heller, FNP-C, to DeTar Medical Group Clinic East
11/12/2025
DeTar Medical Group welcomes Jessica Heller, FNP-C, as the newest provider at the DeTar Medical Group Primary Care Clinic East, located on the Texas A&M University–Victoria (UHV) campus. With more than 30 years of healthcare experience, including serving as director of education for DeTar, Heller brings a deep commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care and a strong connection to the Victoria community.
Heller has held a variety of clinical and leadership roles within the DeTar Healthcare System, serving as DeTar’s director of education for 8 years. In her role as director of education, Heller not only taught her patients, but she also trained the next generation of clinical staff. Her extensive background has shaped her holistic approach to primary care, emphasizing prevention, wellness and strong provider–patient relationships.
“Over the last 30 years, I have grown as a nurse, as a leader and as a person. Becoming a family nurse practitioner was just the next step for me” Heller said. “I want to focus on preventative care using my abilities as an educator. Instead of seeing patients that already have an acute illness, I want to help them prevent or at least medically manage the illness successfully.”
Brett Maxfield, CEO of DeTar Healthcare System, expressed his enthusiasm about Heller’s new role, highlighting her dedication and long-standing service to the community.
“Jessica has been an integral part of the DeTar team for many years, and we’re thrilled to see her continue her journey as a family nurse practitioner,” Maxfield said. “Her experience, compassion, and commitment to excellence make her a tremendous asset to both our organization and the patients we serve.”
At the DeTar Medical Group Primary Care Clinic, Heller offers primary care services designed to support patients’ health through every stage of life. She provides diagnosis and treatment for acute illnesses, management of chronic diseases, preventive care and ongoing wellness support.
Services include:
- Preventive care and wellness exams
- Acute illness diagnosis and treatment
- Chronic disease management
- Health screenings and immunizations
- Patient education
- Referral coordination with specialists
Located on the Texas A&M University–Victoria campus (2810 N. Ben Wilson Street Suite 100) in the same facility as the Health & Wellness Center, the clinic is easily accessible to students, faculty and community members. Patients benefit from ample parking and flexible online scheduling.
“As a nurse, I provided care to patients of all ages and at all stages of life,” Heller said. “Now, as a family nurse practitioner, my priority remains the same — putting my patients first and helping them achieve their best possible health.”
Same-day appointments are available with all providers and walk-ins are welcome. Designed for comfort and accessibility, the clinic provides a welcoming environment for patients seeking high-quality, personalized care close to home.
