12/31/2025
Additional Classes offered in March, May, July, Sept. and Nov.
Expecting parents are invited to begin the new year feeling informed, confident and prepared with DeTar Hospital North’s January 2026 Prenatal Childbirth Education Classes. The free, three-part class series will be held January 6, 13 and 20, beginning at 6 p.m. at DeTar Hospital North’s Garden Café, located at 101 Medical Drive in Victoria.
Designed for both first-time parents and growing families, the prenatal class provides education and support during late pregnancy, labor, delivery and the early postpartum period. Led by experienced healthcare professionals, the classes offer an engaging and welcoming environment where participants can ask questions, gain practical knowledge and connect with other expectant parents.
“Our prenatal classes are designed to empower parents with knowledge while easing anxieties that often come with pregnancy and childbirth,” said Mary Claire Bradshaw, director of the DeTar Women and Children’s Center. “By offering hands-on education, real-life insights and a tour of our labor and delivery unit, we help families feel more confident and prepared as they approach one of life’s most meaningful moments.”
DeTar North’s childbirth education program uses an interactive approach, covering topics such as understanding the third trimester, all stages of labor and delivery, comfort techniques including breathing, relaxation, medications and epidurals, medical procedures, Cesarean sections, birth planning and medical decision-making, postpartum care and newborn care. Participants also tour the labor and delivery department and spend time in a labor room learning about equipment and labor positioning.
Classes are free, but pre-registration is requested. To reserve a spot for the January series, expectant parents are encouraged to call (361) 788-2608.
