Through several fundraising efforts conducted in the month of October 2025, DeTar Cancer Center and DeTar Healthcare System raised $6,269.95 to donate to Crossroads Guardians of Hope, a local non-profit organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families impacted by cancer in the Crossroads region. The check presentation took place on January 15, 2026 in front of DeTar Cancer Center, recognizing the efforts of DeTar employees during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October 2025.
The funds were raised throughout October through a series of employee-driven initiatives, including a bake sale conducted by DeTar Volunteer Services ($1,951.68), DeTar breast cancer awareness t-shirt & cap sales ($2,993.20), and a Pink Out Breakfast led by DeTar Cancer Center ($1,352.27). “Each event showcased the compassion and teamwork of DeTar employees, who came together to raise awareness and provide tangible assistance for those facing a cancer diagnosis,” said Audrey Svatek, Director of DeTar Cancer Center.
Crossroads Guardians of Hope provides vital support to local cancer patients, offering financial assistance for expenses such as fuel, hotel stays, parking, and medications. The organization also maintains a fleet of pink emergency vehicles—including a fire engine, ambulance, and patrol car—that serve as moving symbols of strength, remembrance, and community unity.
“DeTar is honored to support Crossroads Guardians of Hope, whose commitment to helping cancer patients and their families is invaluable,” said Brett Maxfield, CEO of DeTar Healthcare System. “Cancer affects so many in our community, and it is our duty to stand beside those who are fighting this battle. By giving back, we hope to offer some relief and show those in need that they are not alone.”
The DeTar Cancer Center provides a full spectrum of cancer care services, including prevention, screening, diagnosis, advanced treatment, and survivorship support. DeTar Cancer Center provides a range of cancer care services, from prevention and early screening to comprehensive treatment and recovery. Their multidisciplinary approach combines the latest in medical technology and compassionate care to create personalized treatment plans for each patient.
“Our team is dedicated to walking beside our patients through every step of their cancer journey—from diagnosis through recovery,” said Svatek. “Supporting Crossroads Guardians of Hope is an extension of that mission. Together, we’re helping local patients and families feel the strength and care of their entire community.” For more information about DeTar Cancer Center or to support Crossroads Guardians of Hope, please visit their respective websites.
