About DeTar Cancer Center
Opened in January 2023, the DeTar Cancer Center is a dedicated cancer center in the South Texas Crossroads area. The 12,000-square-foot facility houses physician care, infusion therapy, advanced imaging and radiation therapy all in one convenient location. Its design improves care delivery and enhances the patient experience with:
- 14 patient exam rooms
- 15 chemo and immunotherapy infusion bays
- Advanced imaging including a positron emission tomography (PET) scan machine
- A medical linear accelerator for precise radiation therapy
DeTar Cancer Center is the only cancer center in the Crossroads that houses all cancer care services and treatment in one central location rather than patients having to go to different locations on a hospital campus for each aspect of cancer care and treatment.
The PET scanner allows oncologists to pinpoint cancer locations, enabling targeted radiation treatment that minimizes damage to healthy tissue. The Center’s physicians often collaborate with oncologists and other specialists from distant communities to reduce the physical, emotional and financial burden of traveling long distances for care.
National Distinction in Oncology
Becker’s Healthcare highlights cancer programs that are nationally recognized for excellence, often including National Cancer Institute designations and high rankings from organizations such as U.S. News & World Report and Newsweek. The programs spotlighted are led by world-renowned providers advancing cancer care, ensuring patient safety and pushing the boundaries of treatment and research.
“DeTar Cancer Center embodies this commitment, offering advanced diagnostics, personalized care plans, and patient-focused services that make cancer care accessible in the Crossroads region,” said Dr. Jafri.
