Free community celebration honoring our local healthcare heroes during Hospital Week
In celebration of Hospital Week and the dedicated professionals who care for the Crossroads community, Townsquare Media Victoria will host a “Thanking Our Healthcare Heroes” Street Dance on Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. in downtown Victoria at DeLeon Plaza. Live music will be provided by The Spazmatics.
DeTar Healthcare System is thrilled to serve as one of the presenting sponsors for “Thanking Our Healthcare Heroes” Street Dance, a FREE community event that is all about showing appreciation for the incredible healthcare professionals who care for our Crossroads community. What better way to celebrate than with live 80s and 90s hits from one of the region’s favorite bands, The Spazmatics.

What to Expect:
Live Music & Fun: The Spazmatics will get everyone moving with your favorite 80s tunes. DJ JP will kick things off and close out the night with hits from the 80s and 90s.
Food & Drinks: Grab a bite from local vendors while you enjoy the music.
Community Spirit: Explore sponsor booths and local nonprofits supporting healthcare organizations across the Crossroads.
Recognition & Celebration: The evening includes welcoming remarks from sponsors and a special city proclamation from Mayor Duane Crocker honoring Nurses Week and Hospital Week.
Event Timeline:
5:00 p.m. – DJ JP kicks off the fun
5:45 p.m. – City proclamation honoring healthcare heroes
6:30–9:00 p.m. – The Spazmatics take the stage
9:00–10:00 p.m. – DJ JP closes out the night
“This event is all about taking our celebration beyond the hospital walls,” said Emily Weatherly, marketing director at DeTar Healthcare System. “Hospitals often hold internal events for Hospital Week, but this street dance is our way of taking the celebration out of the hospital and into the heart of the community—so everyone can join in the fun and say thank you together,” Weatherly said. “Our Hospital Week theme, Decades of Dedication, fits perfectly with the 80s vibes of Thursday, May 14. It’s a fun way for everyone to come together, honor our healthcare professionals, and celebrate their dedication!”
“This celebration is especially meaningful as it brings together Nurses Week, Hospital Week, and EMS Week,” said Heidi Wolf, chief nursing officer at DeTar Healthcare System. “It’s a special opportunity to recognize the compassion, skill, and teamwork of everyone involved in patient care and invite the community to say thank you.”
The idea for the event was a collaborative vision between Weatherly and Melissa Rivera, market president of Townsquare Media Victoria. “Victoria is supportive, celebratory and united when it comes to recognizing our healthcare heroes,” Rivera said. “We wanted to create something that truly reflects the spirit of this community, and what better way to do so than by hosting a street dance in honor of our healthcare heroes.”
The “Thanking Our Healthcare Heroes” Street Dance is open to everyone. Come out, enjoy the music, and show your appreciation for the healthcare teams who make a difference every day on May 14 in downtown Victoria.
