Visiting Hours
Visitors can be good medicine for patients. Family members and friends are welcome to visit. However, patient care is our primary concern at DeTar Healthcare System, and, in order to enhance the quality of care, specific visiting hours and regulations have been established for each unit. Visiting hours for the hospital floors are from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Patients receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit may be visited briefly at 6 a.m., 9 a.m., 12:00 noon, 2:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m., and 8:00 p.m. Please follow these guidelines. If you need additional information, please check with a nurse on the unit.
Visiting Regulations
Following are general guidelines for visitors:
- People with colds, sore throats or any contagious diseases should not visit patients.
- No more than two visitors are allowed at the bedside at one time.
- Visits should be kept short.
- Visitors should maintain a quiet environment and avoid unnecessary noise.
- Visitors will be asked to leave the room during tests or treatments or when the doctor or nurse needs to see the patient.
- Visitors may not smoke in patient rooms or anywhere in the hospital, except the designated smoking areas outside of the hospital. This is in accordance with state and federal law.
- Visitors must dress appropriately and must wear shirts and shoes.
Gifts for Patients
Visitors should check with the nurse before bringing gifts of food or drink to patients. Please check with the nurse to make sure your gift is appropriate. On the intensive care unit, please check with the unit regarding any gifts for patients.
Condition Reports
Any personal information about your diagnosis and treatment must come from your physician, and this information is only available to members of your immediate family whom you designate to receive it.
Parking
Parking for patients and visitors at DeTar Navarro is available in the parking lots located at the comers of Nueces and Navarro Streets and in the Parking Garage located on San Antonio Street. Parking is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Patients and visitors are cautioned not to park in reserved areas or certain designated areas. If you need assistance with your vehicle, please call the Security Department at 788-6165 from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. After 5:00 p.m., please dial and have the operator page security.
Parking at DeTar North is available in parking lots located close to the various entrances. Please note reserved areas or certain designated areas for parking. If you need assistance with your vehicle, please call the Security Department by dialing the operator at 573-6100.
Waiting Areas
There are specially designated lounge areas for visitors on each patient floor and on the main floor in the lobby. Specific waiting areas have been designated for families of patients in the critical care units, the emergency department and surgery.
Out-of-Town Visitors
Accommodations for relatives and visitors from out-of-town are available at nearby motels at a specially negotiated rate. Please contact the nursing supervisor at 788- 6613 from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. for hotel information.
Gift Shop
There are gift shops located at both DeTar Hospital North and DeTar Hospital Navarro They are staffed by volunteers and are open from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The shop has a large selection of gifts, jewelry, magazines, greeting cards, fresh flowers, plants, candy and toiletries. The DeTar North gift shop phone number is 788-2691 and the DeTar Navarro gift shop phone number is 788-4109.
Chapel
The chapel at DeTar Navarro and the chapel at DeTar North is located on the First Floor near the main entrance of the hospital. Visitors of all faiths are welcome to visit the chapel for prayer and meditation. Holy Communion is distributed by request. Please notify the Chaplain at 788-6001 if you would like to receive Holy Communion.
ATM Service
For your convenience, an ATM is located at the DeTar Hospital Navarro campus on the first floor in the surgery waiting area. An ATM is located on the DeTar Hospital North campus in the Emergency Room waiting area.
